Onyx surgery
Nail repair painlessly and safely.
About 20% of people who have a foot problem need the help of a specialist
This condition occurs when the nail grows on the skin. It usually affects the big toe, with the corner of the nail growing to the tip of the nail. In most cases, this is due to tight shoes or improper nail trimming.
People can often help the nail from home by wearing appropriate footwear to avoid pressure on the toe, soak the foot in warm water and keep the area clean to help it heal on its own.
However, if there are signs of infection, a person should see a doctor instead of trying to cure the nail on its own.
Nails sometimes addict the skin. As a result, they can facilitate the entry of bacteria and other germs, which increases the risk of infection. Timely treatment of a diseased nail reduces this risk. Some signs of infection include:
- swelling
- pus
- redness
- pain
- fever
Treatment
Nails are parts of the skin and are made of keratin, the same protein as hair. The most common microsurgery in the nail area concerns the treatment of nail penetration, where the nail for various reasons penetrates the skin and often causes intense inflammation. Note that the first treatment of this problem is not surgery and has very good success rates. In the nail penetration, we remove only a small part of the nail and we finally solve the problem. In addition to this microsurgery, in our office we do biopsies of lesions and removal of tumors that are under the nail. But again to emphasize that the use of the dermatoscope (see olive test) is valuable and often leads to the avoidance of unnecessary surgery. Nail surgeries require proper local anesthesia because otherwise they are painful. In such cases we always use executive anesthesia, where the whole finger is numb and we perform the operation without any pain.
